Wind farm subsidies cost us £1bn in energy bills

Britain’s energy policy faces new controversy as it can be revealed that electricity customers are paying more than £1 billion a year to subsidise windfarms and other forms of renewable energy, according to the Sunday Telegraph.  It’s not new news, but it’s better they arrive late to the party than not at all.  At least more people will become aware of (EU driven) charges such as the Renewables Obligation that are forcing up our bills to subsidise forms of power generation that do not produce power when it’s needed most.

The excellent EU Referendum blog has been explaining for many months how we energy consumers are paying no less than five separate charges to ‘fund the battle to combat climate change’.  They are the EU Emissions Trading Scheme, the Carbon Emissions Reduction Target, the Renewables Obligation, the Community Energy Saving Programme and a forthcoming levy on investing in clean coal projects.  Now the media is waking up to this outrageous rip off people will be able to see how we are manipulated and treated as climate change cash cows to make a fortune for big business.  It would be nice if the media also explained the origin of these charges… our government in Brussels.

It would be very interesting to find out exactly how much (percentage)of our domestic energy bill (heating/lighting) hived off to the “Renewable Energy Mob”
Perhaps (many) people should be encouraged to withold that percentage of their next bill.
If litigation was a result, at least the policy would be subject to some public scrutiny.

Expect no help from CallMeDave. He’s currently sending his troops to “Eco-School” to make sure they can faithfully recite the creed of the Green God.

Despite the IPCC’s latest report gradually being unpicked and shown to be the tissue of lies many of us have long thought it to be, the Conservatives will continue their lemming-like march over the cliff in the name of Mann Made Global Warming.

    Thanks for the link WfW.

Peter, it will be interesting to see what if any reaction there is to greater public awareness of this scam. The problem is people are distracted by entertainment while their interests are assaulted and rights are torn away from under them.

John, I never expect help from Cameron. He single handedly drove me away from the Conservative party and I won’t be back until the party sees sense and elects a conservative as leader. Perhaps its time Cameron (and his wider family) were scrutinised for any interests they hold in climate change ponzi schemes.
