BBC continues its pro EU brainwashing

What is the problem with flying the EU flag in the UK?  That was the question posed by the BBC yesterday.  Just by asking the question, the corporation is continuing its effort to condition viewers into thinking of such matters as a triviality that makes no difference to the UK.  It won’t be long now before they run another piece, asking what’s the big deal about paying taxes directly to the EU.

Perhaps when these reports are commissioned and broadcast in future, the BBC would like to declare its interest in such matters and remind viewers that the corporation takes millions of pounds in loans and grants from the EU – funded of course by taxpayers over and above the licence fee we are forced to pay under pain of fine or imprisonment.

Asking “what is the problem with flying the EU flag in the UK?” does not make the BBC biased towards the EU. If when David Cameron said he’d be flying the English flag during the World Cup the BBC had asked: “what is the problem with flying the English flag?” I don’t think those who are using the Newsnight feature to prove that the BBC is biased towards the EU would be accusing the BBC of being biased towards England.

Aside from the pro government/leftist propaganda the BBC send out (a common problem with the publically owned Canadian and Austrialian TV companies as well) the method of funding the BBC through a licence fee still provides excellence and value for money in broadcasting TV and we would be much poorer without them.

If you take away the wall to wall sport or films what are you left with on Sky? Without the BBC you would need to susbscribe, lets say one of their minimal packages – how much does that cost per annum?

And then there is what Iconsider to be the BBC’s crown jewels – radio, all channels pretty much head and shoulders above any commercial offerings, commercial radio is very good at producing focused wallpaper radio, fine for those that want it.

I can put up with the leftie news garbage from the BBC, there are now plenty of places to get differing opinions, here for instance. However our soviet styled EU….

I think Senior, that you may have missed the real reason that the BBC is unable to put forward a balanced view on the EU. When you are in receipt of millions of euros from an organisation, you are not going to highlight the problems of that organisation are you?

Comparing the demand that we fly the EU flag in the UK to the natural flyingo of our national flag during our national football team’s campaign is – at the least – a very specious argument.

The BBC should be disbanding in its present form, and reconstituted into something more in keeping with its foreign dependency .. How about the European Broadcasting Company in Britain?

The difference lies in the fact that the BBC has actually asked the first question but not the second.

When it comes to the EU the BBC will always focus on the trivialities, just as when they do bother to interview anti-EU commentators they choose the slightly eccentric Farage and Pearson rather than the more serious (and convincing?) Booker or Tebbitt. This way they can assure us there is nothing to worry about.
I’d like to see Paxman interview a skilled debater like Peter Hitchens on this subject.

There is also no mention in that report of the fact that we are net contributors. And isn’t there also something about having to put up half the money ourselves, the EU’s half of the money not being paid until the project is completed to its satisfaction?

I hate the fact that the BBC is state subsidized yet it promotes anti UK & Pro Eu stances. The BBC should be privatized now it has become the mouthpiece for Europe!

12.05.13 The BBC shows pie charts indicating the EU is our biggest trade area when this is a lie. The UK currently does approx 53% of it’s trade outside the EU!
