If you read one blog post today, make it this one

We are seeing here structural cuts which remove the UK’s ability to act independently as a nation, and to project our foreign policy. We have moved from independence to a transitional stage where our capabilities have been removed and there is no replacement.  The agenda unfolds.

AM – surely this is just a continuation of ‘World class’ business policies developed in the past 20 years or so.

If you consider EURef’s earlier post about aid to India and investment in Maritime Patrol aircraft it seems clear that the Coalition are somply apply industry ‘best practice’ and outsourcing to India.

In temrs of use of such planes in Afghanistan it makes sense – they are closer than we are. Granted any shipwrecks in our waters would be out of scope for the Indians but I expect the French, Norwegians or maybe Iceland would deal with it. The risks of such an occurrance are receding all the time , especially with the economy the eay it is. Anyway, once you have goto rid of the Coastguard and the Air-sea Rescue there’s really nothing left you need Maritime support for – is there?

I assume the mooted Land Rover factory in India is part of the same corporate plan.

And I wager reason #1 dismissal straight out of the barn when presented by the fact that this makes us completely dependent on EU partners, and is a conscious choice will be “conspiracy theory”.

God damn how I hate people’s apathy sometimes.

I think the French might have a problem with it.
