The war on CO2, updated 2050 Pathways Analysis launched

The propaganda onslaught continues apace today with the launch of ‘The 2050 Pathways Debate: having an energy-literate conversation about the UK’s options to 2050’ by the Department for Energy and Climate Change (DECC).

Chris ‘Luhnatic’ Huhne published a written statement in the Commons yesterday announcing the launch of this online event:

‘The 2050 Pathways Debate: having an energy-literate conversation about the UK’s options to 2050.’ Leading climate and energy experts will use the 2050 pathways calculator to present their personal view of how the UK can reduce its emissions by at least 80% by 2050, ahead of the online debate being opened to the wider public.

The obvious problem here is the starting point.  It has been decided that human caused CO2 emissions – a mere 5% of total CO2 emissions globally – is changing our climate.  There is no evidence, there is no proof, just a theory.  But rather than focus on further scientific investigation in the face of a rapidly growing counter consensus that questions the premise of CO2 induced climate change, huge sums of our money are pumped into tackling what looks more and more like a non existant problem using propaganda such as the My2050 site. As always, the target of choice are the young and impressionable:

This user-friendly version of the analysis is aimed at a youth audience and we plan to engage schools and colleges in using it to raise awareness of the issues.

The more you repeat the mantra, the more likely they will accept what they are told as fact without question. Without evidence or proof this propaganda constitutes a fraud being perpetrated against the public. It is a form of brainwashing building upon the appeal to authority of scientists whose flawed and corrupted methods have been exposed but remain unmolested by government, and the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) whose reputation lies in tatters after a string of errors and known distortions.

What we are seeing is a shameless effort to take advantage of many youngsters only getting their knowledge from school.  By not encouraging them to think, challenge and question and instead providing them with a false starting point on this subject, our politicians are betraying at least a generation and corrupting their education.  This should be an international scandal, but who is making a stand?

    “just a theory”

Have a read of this page about the ankers who created that god awful site and were paid out of public funds.

And, over the years, we’ve helped (and are helping) a diverse range of public sector organisations around the world including: NHS, BBC Trust, Defra, European Parliament, Department of Homeland Security, NAPA, DoH, Cabinet Office, Bristol City Council, London Fire and Emergency Planning Authority, London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Macmillan Cancer Care.

They are so successful I have never heard of any of the crap they produce before I read your blog post.

But Dlib is just part of Team Rubber.
Another bunch of idiots I have never come across before.

Team Rubber was founded by Chris Quigley, Andrew Parkhouse and Matt Golding.

Since 2001 we’ve surrounded ourselves with a team of great people who help us develop our ideas and take them to market.

2009: Delib goes to America! We work with the Obama administration to engage citizens with government

It’s all very cosy in the world of global politics isn’t it?

Are kids buying it? It seems obvious to me that it’s a huge scam perpetrated by big business & governments to loot us all of our money, while China & India escape scot-free to continue polluting the air with their weekly-increasing stock of coal-fired power stations. Surely some teachers must be aware by now that it’s all a massive falsehood? Awkward nonetheless though for honest teachers: having to cynically tell the kids it’s all a falsehood – but if they want to score well in any external exams, they’ll have to spout out a load of warmist tosh! A pity kids have to learn so young that the adult world is infested with lies!

A little bit more digging into what these idiots get paid for reveals this gem

    Ye gods!

You know when they said they would make cuts I naively assumed this type of cr@p would be the things cut, not harriers and aircraft carriers without any prospect of replacement.

    Never vote for them again.

Indeed Bill. Before putting up that post I submitted two FOI requests concerning Delib and Sciencewise-ERC. We shall see what comes of them.

No Chris, sacred beliefs and vested interest of the politicos and their friends trumps what matters to the people of this country. I thought you would have known that. Labour’s behaviour is in order to get aboard the gravy train, the Tories in order to keep their seats in First Class.

Besides, as EU Referendum has been pointing out for quite some time, these defence cuts are more about realising a strategic EU vision than reducing spending.

Recently, I was driven for 20 minutes by my teenage daughter and she had the radio on… The torrent of ghastly state funded trash infomercials about carbon, global warming, green, saving energy, renewables blah, blah.. was jaw dropping – as were the utterly stupid assertions being repeated time and time and time and time and time again by gushing girlies or “hey I’m cool” chaps…

I thought to keep quiet – to avoid a squabble about her choice of music but in the end, exasperation got the better of me. So I was tagged as grumpy old dad who doesn’t like music…

The “establishment” must be pouring a fortune into the pockets of “trendy” youth focused advertising agencies who churn out this poisonous drivel.

The young can be cynical, and the message can be seen for what it is – but the sheer volume of monocultured greeny thought being pumped out has to be addressed – although it’s likely that the commercial music radio stations won’t challenge it – my ears tell me that well over half their budget was from the state propaganda machine

Well, my two daughters are being gently versed in choices and truth. Aasking what the youngest (11yrs) is being told brought precious little, but at home we are showing her the claims and fraudulent aspects of school as it is today.

It’s down to the parents in the long run, and if it means taking them out and home schooling – so be it. I know my youngest is up for that. Sick of uniform, cliques, and hauling heavy books around daily.

That 2050 website sucks. More choices in the arcade machines on Southend Pier.

Am you are correct it is a scandal of gargantuan dimension…as to “who is making a stand” sadly as illustrated here and by readers comments there does not exist any meaningful alternative to the status quo in choice of political parties to counter this…

I read recently an EU Ref post re a nationlistic movement being perhaps the basis of a political movement to take back our country; interesting comments methout.

that sadly seems the only way to peacefully and lawfully achieve the liberty we so desperately crave…that or Revolution….

    and time is running out.

Meanwhile in the UEA’s home city of Norwich, two of their students are planning to suspend a model airliner over the streets, and have it puff out “pollution” at regular intervals….

I do hope they don’t commute from Paris by Easyjet!

There is a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, pretty soon there will not be enough money left in the kitty to finance the three ring circus of greedy parasites, carpet baggers and mental defectives of the CAGW cult and when the money runs out they will evaporate like a summer morning mist. The power grid is on its last legs and any more strain it will start to disintegrate.

After May this year a flood of the poorest Eastern Europeans will flood into the UK, probably a million and maybe more. Benefit tourists will full instant access to benefits and social services and housing and education(such as it is). Families will be the first to arrive of course being entitled to immediate accommodation and I do not blame them one little bit, they come from places so poor and ill served they would be mad not to flock here.

By the end of 2012 I estimate the first million will be here and a million people costs an awful lot of money to sustain on the benefits system. Taxes will have to rise, the cost of living will rise and the ordinary and the poor will struggle to pay the bills. The government borrowing will reach breaking point very soon and the credit downgrade is fast approaching and the tax saturation point is already reached.

The British people need a very hard slap in the face to wake them up from their coma like trance, this slap is coming very soon.

I am aghast at the barefaced effrontery in which this unscientific garbage is promulgated with the full expectation that we are stupid enough to believe it.
I am absolutely gob-smacked to know that not only top-drawer science institutions but our own governments are peddling such deception.
I am horrified to know that newspapers and TV stations, formerly held in such high esteem for what I believed were high standards of independence and veracity, are nothing more than sounding platforms for State propaganda.
I am shocked when informed through the Web of the despicable way so many so-called ‘scientific’ journals cherry-pick only the articles that subscribe to the AGW hoax, deliberately and openly denying a debate of the alternate view and especially supportive of ad-hominen attacks on the bearers of the true science.
I am bloody angry that such garbage is being aimed, deliberately and blatantly, at our children when we parents are pushed to the sidelines amid a feeding-frenzy of juvenile pseudo-science.
I am climbing the walls with abject frustration for answers as to why, why, why those that rule are heading us all to Hell, eyes wide-open.
Why do they want to see the demise of our civilization; so wantonly expose our species to the margins of life. In denying and trying to eliminate the life properties of CO2 they are denying our right to life, but more sinister still they are denying life to our very planet and all its life if their crackpot ideas come to fruition.
The fight back is coming; mine is to help spread the word via sites like yours, A.M. In addition I am tutoring all my children (29, 24, 13, 11, 4 ) in the Truth by copying my library of 100s of downloaded papers and articles onto their USB flash drives as well as giving detailed answers to their questions. They all laugh at Al Gore et al – but now they know WHY they laugh (youngest excepted of course).
Here in the Philippines your average Joe-six-pack is more intent on feeding his family each day than the esotericism of AGW – even if he is aware.
However, how much longer will populations sit back and allow a forced situation in which they will be prodded back in time to a loincloth, fur bootees, and a hunter-gatherer lifestyle before the worm turns?

Interesting, reading through this page, in amongst all of the propaganda, one particular piece of BS stood out for me:

“Since its launch on the DECC website in July the 2050 web tool has had more than 40,000 hits with users creating 392,000 possible pathways to 2050.”

I’m sure 40,000 hits sounds incredibly impressive to officials who are IT illiterate. My Gaddafi Duck video (warning: strong language, NSFW) has managed 15,000 hits on Youtube in less than 10 days. Anthony Watts’ site is counting hits in the millions.

Aside from the issue that it is unique hits that are important, probably scaling that figure down somewhat, attention needs to be drawn to the BS contained in the ‘392,000’ possible pathways claim. It means that users, on average submitted ‘solutions’ on the calculator 9.8 times each. What utter cr*p.

Woo Hoo! I got 100% on their slidey thingy but I couldn’t submit untill I got below 20%. Unfair.
