This week’s blogging plans were comprehensively trampled over by an unexpected issue at work. Having arrived home just a little while and sunk into the luxurious comfort of the leather sofa it is time to pick through the better part of a week’s news and try to work out why the Ministry of Justice has failed to acknowledge a Freedom of Information request.

There is a guest post in the can to be published later, Hansard to pick through, then today’s picks from the ‘sphere for tonight’s 5 Star Blogging. But first, dinner…

    Earlier in the year I did a compaison (from the ‘What Do They Know’ website). It was my impression that the MoJ were the worst Gov body to respond tp FOI requests.

    They will find minute errors in the way you ask questions;
    They will ‘loose’ requests;
    They are often late, or very late in repling (there was one not answered from 22/09/2008);
    They pull the “Information not held” trick, often.

    The FOI dept at MoJ is “not fit for purpose”

    That’s interesting John. Did you post your findings anywhere, or would you like to have them posted here on the site?

    Hm. If you have John do a post, get a gude editar to chek his stuff.
    ‘the MOJ were the worst’ — was
    ‘respond tp FOI requests — to
    ”loose’ requests’ — lose
    ‘very late in repling’ — replying

    Two typos and two grammar boners in such a short post don’t bode well.
