Without the slightest trace of irony

Is this one of the finest examples of a stunning lack of self awareness?  Here we have a man, writing for pay in the mainstream media, criticising the mainstream media for failing to uncover and report information that was apparently very simple to find.  The irony of course is this man is an ‘expert’, a self professed ‘historian of the United States’.

Now forgive me, but I thought the mark of a historian was the ability to uncover and interpret information.  So what is Dr Tim Stanley’s excuse for not finding this material himself?  Some historian.  Where in the name of all things holy do these people come from?

    It’s unreal.

I can’t help thinking Dr Stanley was well aware of Obama’s literary agent’s statement, but kept quiet about it, while hoping the rest of the mainstream media/academic world would do likewise. If Obama’s true birthplace had been widely reported, he wouldn’t have been allowed to run for President, which wouldn’t have suited the West’s ‘liberal’ ruling classes.

I think attacking Tim Stanley for bringing this to light is a little unfair. He’s a historian, not a journalist. I note that he has written a biography of Pat Buchanan – if he’d written a biography of Barack Obama, then perhaps there might be grounds for criticising him in not picking up on this interesting nugget of information, but as it is his professional energies are engaged elsewhere.

Well he is only weeks behind Steve Sailer in thism which in MSM terms is almost a scoop.

And the question of why the media didn’t dig this up 5 years ago, when they had teams of people camping out in Alaska trying to find anybody willing to say Sarah Palin had ever sworn when she was in school, is actually a rather interesting one whether it turns out Obama was lying then when he said he was born in Kenya rather than lying now when he says he wasn’t.
