Despite no evidence media deliberately seeks to link tidal surge to climate change

It’s not just shabby, it’s downright dishonest.

The Independent – a viewspaper not a newspaper – having taken it upon itself as part of the establishment to push the climate alarmist narrative relentlessly, is even ignoring what the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change has said about no evidence of a link between ‘climate change’ and ‘extreme weather’ and is trying to connect the east coast tidal surge to climate change.  But in a snide piece of journalism it is doing it in an underhand way, designed to be subtle while being blindingly obvious, by making references to Owen Paterson’s comments about the potential benefits of climate change.

Climate activists and their media mouthpieces keep suggesting extreme weather events are being caused by climate change.  Yet that would mean the weather events they have latched on to would be happening only because of a tiny amount of temperature change that has been recorded.  Paterson did himself no favours by describing the flooding this week as ‘quite exceptional’.  They were comparable to the floods of 1953, lower in some areas and higher in others, which pre-date the warming cited as a cause of weather events that have occured many times over the centuries.

But where there is an agenda being pushed by people who put their fingers in their ears to block out anything that undermines their belief system, and who refuse to provide balance in their reporting by publishing anything that contradicts it, we get what the media is serving up.

The back of a fridge is always warm. That has to prove something – surely? (:o)

When will these people learn that the most likely cause of adverse weather is a cooling world.

Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming advocates fail to explain how reduction of man-made atmospheric CO2 can ever can help to control Climate Change towards a cooling world.

Having made so many dire predictions of the impending adverse climate catastrophes from overheating, Global Warming / Climate Change advocates fail to accept that a climate change towards a cooler climate is more likely to lead to more intense adverse weather .

However there is good reason to expect this, simply because the energy differential between the poles and the tropics is bound to be greater and that in itself leads to less stable atmospheric conditions.

It has been shown in the past that the warmer climate in the Roman and Medieval warm periods, now once again recognised by the IPCC, was more conducive to the wellbeing of the biosphere and of man-kind.

If it were to get somewhat warmer, the world could well adapt to having larger areas for a more productive agriculture, better fertilised by CO2.

The Independent’s circulation has dropped like a stone in the past couple of years. The 2013 circulation is reckoned to be 77,000.

They’re flogging dead horses for the decreasing minority who think these corpses are going to get up and race.

They’re hardly worth taking any notice of.

    edmh;
And the wild weather caused by cooling will cause Warmists to say, “See? Warming did that!” even as the temperature falls.

In advance, extract from them a clear “projection” of temperature, CO2 emissions, and extreme events, with agreement that they will abandon their hypothesis if the “projections” fail. Since they’re so confident, it should be easy to do, no?

The Independent’ editorial guidelines must be something to behold…. I know directly that they’re not only shamelessly spouting dishonest bilge about AGW – they’re (OK, predictably I suppose) spiking their own stories with any hint of criticism in particular about the way DECC and The EA are handling “climate” related stuff like wonky windmills and obstruction of enhanced methane recovery (fracking)

But I suppose one can’t really expect much from a paper whose editor has been known to quote Caroline Lucas M.P.

Why is Lebedev continuing to support this miserable has-been zombie rag?

In the hope of advertising revenues.

I wonder at Lebedev … a Russian doll definitely comes to mind – he doesn’t need the money or the hassle – a vanity trinket for an oligarch? Their editorial bias at higher levels would be comical / pathetic in some student campus newspaper but in a national title it’s indicative of how far the rot has progressed.

It’ll be a miracle if it don’t spiral into the dirt.
