Ukraine signs its Faustian pact with the EU

So there we have it.  The EU has signed its Association Agreement with the self appointed administration in Kiev – which came to power through a coup, rather than waiting for elections promised by Ukraine’s elected President, who is now in exile.

It may be that Ukraine’s electorate might have voted for a party or coalition that remained in favour of beginning the long process of surrendering sovereignty to the bureaucracy in Brussels, but as things stand a political settlement has been rammed through by the political class, without a clear mandate from what remains a disenfranchised population.

Small wonder that Ukraine’s unelected Prime Minister, Arseniy Yatsenyuk, claimed that Ukraine and the EU share the same values.  That democracy is not one of those values has been reinforced once again today.

The hypocrisy of the EU has broken new ground as it commenced the process of taking control of yet another territory without the approval of the people it will eventually govern. Whatever hopes the people in Ukraine had for a democratic, sovereign future have been swept away with a few flourishes of politicians’ pens.

The country has now been carved up between two rival entities.  The EU is set to take the spoils in the west and north, Russia has snapped up the peninsula in the south.  Another triumph for the political class.

The BBC reports that the EU Association Agreement is designed to give Ukraine’s interim leadership under PM Arseniy Yatsenyuk economic and political support.  What it actually does is give the EU ever greater control over Ukraine.

And the lying barstewards tell us “how lucky we are to live in a democracy.. They even have the front to claim Russia has no rights to Crimea

Well… if it comes to conflict, I fear it will be the massed ranks of the Europhiles who will be sent over the top first to face the Russian machine guns. They will wish to lead from the front, presumably?

Tragic. The flower of Europe’s EU obsessives lying cold and silent, all because they could not be diverted from their principles…

I can just imagine the scene in Putin’s dug-out. ‘How many divisions do they have?’ ….

‘None’ … ‘but there will be even fewer this time next year if we wait for the next round of cuts…’….

I’m sure there will be a song sung for the sad tale of the lost souls of the Guy Verhofstadt Battalion.

    Never mind. Can’t be helped.

Not sure that Vlad will take that slap around the chops too well. Perhaps a few poisoned Eurocrats?

We’ll be seeing some ‘technical problems’ with the gas pipeline before the end of the week.

Let the Russians take the fucking LOT.

Many people here, in the East, regret the end of the cold war. I could never understand why.

NOW I am begining to see.

Ukraine is not Europe, it mostly belongs with the Eastern Orthodox – in all senses of the word.
Political interference, by the EU in matters of which are none of their business, is insane beyond belief.
This stupid, stupid ‘agreement’ will come back to bite in the arse – Van Rompuy and his scabrous pack of curs, everyone knows this will provoke not quell trouble and Vladimir’s shadow red army is chafing at the bit.

I don’t, as the British media are so willing to do paint Putin as the bad guy in all of this. Indeed, Russia should be a friend and ally, of course yes we need to be firm with the ‘Bear’ [did we ever apologize for joining up with the French and Ottomans to fight the forces of Tsar Nicholas I in the Crimea – no? Thought not]. We [Britain] – actually Cameron, little Willy Hague and all of the Westminster muppets need a healthy injection of or, a large sized 12 boot up the WeltPolitik. But no, what do we get, is just more vague bird brained collusion, the FCO and EU squawking headless chickens running along with ever greater ridiculous EU promises of what they laughingly refer to as, “Democracy”.

Unless the EU and Kerry, Obama leave the Ukraine question to lie, this will not end well for the peoples of Eastern and Western Ukraine.
