I have been following the UKIP debate with interest from my own past experience, but never really entered the debate. Having led the Save Britain’s Fish campaign through the eighties and nineties, where we were the main anti EU orgainisation we soon realised we had to be on top of the job and never make a mistake. We won the debate hands down but lost the war because the fishing industry let us down. I see UKIP in the same light, they are not on top of the job, far from it. They can’t win the debate, which means they can’t win the war. Like the fishing industry to SBF, UKIP have become a liability to the eurosceptic cause, and sadly if led under Farage’s colours a referendum is lost before we start.
Won’t take any lessons/lectures —– “You made a mistake, therefore you can’t teach me anything.” On this basis, no-one can ever learn anything from anybody, including themselves, excepting God.
